The Issues

Focused on Windsor's Future

Gina Fortino Dickson serves on the Windsor Planning Commission, and previously served on the Windsor Parks and Recreation Commission.

With a diverse background serving the Windsor community, Gina will focus on issues including:

  • Housing, housing affordability, and slowing down dense development in town. Windsor has met and exceeded it’s low-income housing requirements. Gina wants to push for more local control on development projects, slow the rise of large apartment communities, and focus more on middle-income housing for ‘the missing middle’ and those hoping to buy a home in Windsor. Apartment communities need to provide adequate parking…no more projects with one parking space per unit.

  • The town budget. Addressing the Town’s fiscal challenges is critical. The Town of Windsor is pursuing a sales tax measure, and depending on its outcome, will determine the future of Windsor. It’s failure will require deep cuts to recreational programs and public safety. It’s passage will stabilize the town’s budget, but not be the ultimate solution. Gina supports Measure I, but knows thoughtful planning will be required no matter the outcome of the measure.

  • Streets and sidewalk infrastructure. Gina appreciates the repaving of Starr Road, Stellar Lane, Oak Park, Wild Oak and surrounding streets, but knows there’s still a lot of neighborhood streets and sidewalks in need of repair – and will make our neighborhood streets and sidewalks a priority, while also seeking county transportation funding to improve Shiloh Road, and continue progress to improve Old Redwood Highway.

  • Parks and recreation. Gina served on the Windsor Parks and Recreation Commission, and will seek grant funding and Measure H (Parks for All) sales tax funding to help implement the Keiser Park Master Plan, which will bring new sports fields and other amenities to Keiser Park, and support other improvements to neighborhood parks in District 1.

  • Traffic and congestion. There’s no easy solution to traffic issues in Windsor during school commute times and the morning and evening rush hour, but as a commonsense start, Gina wants to seek funding for adaptive signal control technology that adjusts traffic lights at Old Redwood Highway, Windsor River Road, Hembree, and Shiloh based on real-time traffic conditions, to make traffic flow better and smoother.
